Authenticity Standards for the 1st Person Civilian Camp
- NO obvious make-up, do a little research and you will find that they did have eyeliner, rouge, and shadow, but it was very minimal use.
- All dresses and suits must be of correct material and trim; ABSOLUTELTY NO synthetic material.
- NO sneakers or non-period shoes; please research.
- Girls over the age of 14 must have their hair up (good to do anyway to keep cool).
- NO ball gowns in the daytime, there is not an evening dance, so no one should have one.
- NO coolers left out; they must be hidden in a tent or well hidden.
- NO air mattresses unless you have a medical condition that requires you to have one, and must be approved by the Civilian Coordinator; otherwise please sleep in the camp of convenience.
- Nothing modern should be visible; water from water bottles can be poured into glasses and canteens; no plastic.
- NO cell phones or any electronic devices; turn them off and leave them well-hidden in your tent or left in your vehicle.
- This is a first person camp; please maintain your first person impression at all times; avoid slang if portraying a lady as it decreases the credibility of your impression.
- If you cannot abide by these rules, please plan to reside in the camp of convenience.
- The Civilian Coordinator will be around to enforce these rules, and will be happy to answer questions or assist where needed.
- Remember, we are portraying civilians that lived near Manassas during 1862. We are ladies and gentlemen, act respectively. Avoid slang at all costs and most important, please use common sense.
